Building on the success of the first edition, which attracted more than 75,000 visitors in 2017 who partecipated in the 150 events , The Venice Glass Week will return from 9th to 16th September, promoted by the Town Council of Venice, Fondazione Musei Civici, Fondazione Cini, Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti, and Consorzio Promovetro Murano.

From Thursday 8th February 2018 it will be possible to apply to participate in the second edition of the international glass festival scheduled in Venice.

The deadline for applications is 3rd April.

The most important development will be the presence of a curatorial committee: this year, all applications will be evaluated and selected by a team of experts in the glass sector, at an international level, including curators, historians, critics and scholars.  The curatorial committee for the 2018 edition will be headed by historian of Venetian glass Rosa Barovier Mentasti and will consist of critics and curators Chiara Bertola and Jean Blanchaert, director of the German magazine Neues Glas Uta Klotz, and chemist, university teacher and expert in the composition of glass materials Marco Verità.

Applications at The Venice Glass Week are welcomed from any Italian or international applicant wishing to propose an initiative related to artistic glass: exhibitions and installations, as well as conferences, performances, workshops, themed dinners, guided tours, children’s activities or any other event related to the art of glassmaking.

It is free to participate in the festival, and there is no application fee.
