The Department of Tourism of the City of Venice, in collaboration with Consorzio Promovetro, announces the opening of the first OBIETTIVO VENEZIA – FOCUS ON VENICE International Photo Contest.
With your pictures you’ll help in spreading the beauty of Venice, and the promote the one thousand years old art of Murano.
The four best shots will be prized with precious and original Murano glass workpieces, characterised by the Vetro Artistico® Murano trademark.
The participation is free and open to anyone.
There are two submission categories: City of Venice and Murano Glass.
City of Venice
• Gestures and aspects of the territory of the City of Venice (the whole municipal area) and its identity, works of art, nature and landscape, significant and original people and places: the most popular sites of the city, with a particular stress to the secret and hidden corners, the everyday life of those who live in Venice, the smaller islands of the Venitian lagoon, the lagoon landscape and the salt marshes, the mainland that is inextricably linked to the islands, the nature of the countryside.

• The Murano glass, through images that cover not only the products, processes, gestures, tools, furnaces, laboratories, teachers and/or all that the Murano glass can evoke and represent, but also the island of Murano, its landscapes and characteristic views.

The aim of the contest, is to spread the beauties of the city of Venice, and to promote the one thousand years old art of Murano Glass.
Images, that can be submitted until April 30th 2013, must be in JPEG or JPG format, and at least 800 pixels wide (resolution 75 pixels/inch).
A special WEB AWARD will be given to all those voting on the internet.
All photos must be accompanied by author’s full name and his or her contact email, a title and descriptive information about each shot. This must include – in 160 characters (including spaces between words) – category (City of Venice or Murano Glass), date and location where the photo was taken and a caption.These pieces of information will be shown publicly. A subtle watermark may be included, possibly in the corner of the image.
President of the jury will be the most appreciated venetian photographer Fulvio Roiter.
