During The Venice Glass Week, Murano Glass Weekend took place on Murano island from 13th to 15th September, offering a wide range of events, exhibitions and activities.

 

The Way of the Cross of Marco Toso Borella, The Path of Meaning

A guided tour with Marco Toso Borella, the artist of “Via Crucis”, the only one made of Murano glass. Through a journey conducted by the author of the work himself, it will be possible to admire the panels depicting the “Via Crucis of glass”, exhibited in the Basilica of Santi Maria and Donato in Murano.

Glass as common denominator

The photographic exhibition “The Glass as Common Denominator” is promoted by the Municipality of Venice in partnership with three Venice based photo club: “El Grandangolo” of Murano, “Obiettivo Burano” and “Associazione Marco Polo”. It’s a chance to develop an unconventional approach to the issue of glass of Murano.

“Bocca del Fuoco”

Organized by Asd Venezia Runners Atletica Murano, “Bocca del Fuoco” was a chance to discover Murano by night, crossing six glass furnaces in full activity on a route lit up with candles.

The Venice Glass Week Regatta

The Venice Glass Week Regatta is a regatta with 4-oar sandoli boats that will wind from the island of Certosa, into the lagoon and the Murano canals, arriving in Campo San Donato on Murano. The regatta was organized by the athletes of the Gruppo Remiero Murano.

Not only glass: Murano between curiosity and legend by Alberto Toso Fei

Alberto Toso Fei explained curiosities and legends of Murano, an event organized by Consorzio Promovetro Murano in the evocative hall of Scuola del Vetro Abate Zanetti.

The activity was funded by Confartigianato Venezia.

FINDGLASS. In search of the lost murrina

Planned and carried out by Artsystem, FINDGLASS. In search of the lost murrina was a competitive didactic activity for the children of the last classes of primary schools and for those of the Middle Schools, which lead them on a guided journey of knowledge of murrina as a product of Murano glass art. The participants, accompanied by adults, will walk a route on foot and in part with the ferry of the Gruppo Sportivo Remiera Murano, starting from the Scuola del Vetro Abate Zanetti and then entering two of the companies specialized in the realization and production of murrine, Effetre and Ercole Moretti, to conclude at the Glass Museum.

The activity was organized by Consorzio Promovetro Murano and supported by Pierluigi Morasco Broker di Assicurazioni.
