Murano Glass Street Art

Murano artistic craftsmanship and Street Art have been brought together for the first time by the Murano Glass Street Art project, which is being promoted by Consorzio Promovetro Murano as part of its ongoing efforts to spread and enhance the reputation of the Vetro Artistico® Murano trademark.

In July, eight internationally renowned street artists gave the interior of the Effetre Murano glass works a fresh look by decorating it with a number of large murals using special, hi-tech Airlite paint, which purifies the air. Meanwhile, the Master Glass Makers from 14 Murano firms created unique glass pieces inspired by the artists’ distinctive patterns

The initiative is being promoted by Consorzio Promovetro Murano with support from the Veneto Regional Authorities and Venice & Rovigo Chamber of Commerce. A first-hand role is being played by master glass workers from 14 companies that are licensed to display the Vetro Artistico® Murano trademark: AAV Barbini Venetian Mirrors, Effetre Murano, La Perla Veneziana, NicolaMoretti, Simone Giovanni Cenedese Murano, Massimiliano Schiavon Art Team, Ercole Moretti, Zanetti Murano, Vetreria Tiozzo, La Fornasotta, Costantini Glassbeads, Gambaro & Tagliapietra, Wave Murano Glass and Vetrate Artistiche Murano. At the Effetre, Alessio-b, Cento Canesio, Joys, Made514, Tony Gallo, Orion, Zero Mentale and Vesod showed their skills under the coordination of Padua-based gallery manager Carlo Silvestrin.

The exhibition at the Effetre Murano glass works (Fondamenta S. Giovanni Dei Battuti 4/A – 30141 Murano) will be open (with free entrance) from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm and from 2.30 pm to 5.00 pm throughout The Venice Glass Week from 7 to 15 September 2019.
