During the Milano Design Week 2013, throughout the Salone Internazionale del Mobile (international furnishing fair), a brand new design pole will be launched, right in the city. The first edition of Fuorisalone Sarpi Bridge – Oriental Design Week, will happen from the 9th to the 14th of April. A new and unique way to propose design products, created with a Oriental taste and refinement.
A new contact between Western and Eastern cultures, that will develop through special events, specific projects and workshop during the design week.
Fuorisalone Sarpi Bridge will propose oriental design, research, experimentation, innovation and creativity, hosting young and talented designers coming from different countries, in this first edition from China, Korea and Japan
All events will happen in Quartiere Sarpi, an historical area in Milano, close to Porta Garibaldi, the city centre and the famous area of Corso Como. Quartiere Sarpi is the best part of the city to host this event, with its long story of Chinese immigration and its active and productive inhabitants.
Among the various initiatives J+I – 6 Designer Giapponesi + Grandi Artigiani Italiani is the one that involves 6 female Japanese designers in a collaboration with companies specialised in furnishing, wood, iron and off course Murano glass, to create a collection of contemporary products, with a Japanese style and taste.
Thanks to the help Venicecommerce this initiative gave origin to a collaboration between 6 successful Japanese designers – Adachi Sakura, Azumi Tomoko, Ito Shinobu, Maeda Kuniko, Komoda Kazuyo, Shiina Kaori – and Consorzio Promovetro for the creation of prototypes.
The use of different techniques (primary processing, fusing, mirror, grinding etc…) by the associated companies Alessandro Mandruzzato, Ercole Moretti & F.lli Snc, Gambaro & Poggi Vetreria Artistica Sas, Nasonmoretti Srl, Seguso Gianni, Simone Giovanni Cenedese Murano Sas, Tiozzo Sergio, Vetreria Pino Signoretto & C. Snc, gave birth to a unique collection that will be admired in Milan, during the event.
