The Federazione Italiana Rugby chooses Murano glass to support the Fondazione Banca degli Occhi del Veneto.

FIR has chosen the Consorzio Promovetro Murano to create five unique works that will be donated to France, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and England on the occasion of the matches of the Italian Rugby Team in the Tournament.

The works, donated by the glassmasters, will be used to finance the Fondazione Banca degli Occhi del Veneto Onlus in Venice, the main European structure by number of tissues collected and sent for corneal transplantation and high-level research center for eye diseases.

The five Murano glass rugby balls, marked with the Vetro Artistico® Murano trademark, were delivered to the Federal President Alfredo Gavazzi and to a representation of players of the National Team by the Consorzio Promovetro President, Luciano Gambaro, on the occasion of the Azzurri’s visit to Murano, in the Signoretto Lampadari furnace, a brand concessionaire company, where FIR, Consorzio Promovetro and Fondazione Banca degli Occhi, represented by the President Giuseppe di Falco, signed the partnership protocol and witnessed a demonstration of traditional manufacturing.

The Murano glass ovals were born from the creativity of the Murano glassmasters who wanted to take up and contextualize in the precious prizes the various Murano manufacturing techniques: from the classic furnace manufacturing to fusing, from engraving to mirroring.

But we both want to go further and, with our commitment, contribute to supporting in a concrete way a structure which in turn is a leader in its sector and which, through the research and generosity of donors, allows thousands of people every year to recover the gift of sight ”declared the FIR President Alfredo Gavazzi.

“The Federation that I have the honor of presiding – as the number one of the Italian rugby confirmed – has activated, in the recent past, an increasing number of projects in the social field and we are particularly proud to be able to offer the other Federations that we will challenge in the imminent Six Nations of unique works which are, at the same time, concrete evidence of the typical creativity of our country and the strong commitment of Italian rugby in the social field “.

“The Fondazione Banca degli Occhi del Veneto has dressed in blue and has met not only supporters, but also precious testimonials of the values we care most about in the players of the National Team and throughout the FIR management: the gift, the support for research, the importance of good vision ”said the President of the Fondazione Banca degli Occhi Giuseppe Di Falco. “We therefore thank the world of Italian Rugby for this concrete commitment and we turn our thanks to the generous work of the glassmasters, coordinated by the Consorzio Promovetro Murano which protects the authenticity of Murano art, which for years has been close to us in support projects for our research activities “.

“A heartfelt thanks to the FIR and the Fondazione Banca degli Occhi del Veneto which involved us in this beautiful project that unites and enhances the best of Italy from the point of view of the artisan tradition, sport and solidarity and which allows Murano glass and the Vetro Artistico® Murano trademark which protects it to benefit from such an important international stage” declared the Consorzio Promovetro Murano President, Luciano Gambaro.
